Regular property inspections critical for landlords
A leading letting agent working in the north-east of England has warned landlords to regularly check their properties or run the risk of costly damages.
Ajay Jagota of KIS Lettings explained that those leasing properties need to keep a close eye on their tenants’ activities to help avoid any circumstances which could run up high bills.
Mr Jagota, who is head of a company which manages nearly 700 houses across the likes of Sunderland, North Tyneside and South Tyneside, told bdaily that recent reports of properties being hit by fire or flood damage without the landlord knowing could have been prevented had the owner conducted more visits.
“As a landlord it can be easy to assume that no news is good news where tenancies are concerned – but absentee landlords all too often only have themselves to blame when things go seriously, legally and expensively wrong,” Mr Jagota added.
His sentiments echo those of The Landlord Syndicate which stated that regular visits could help to reduce the amount grievances at the end of the tenancy.
