Lincolnshire private landlords to improve standards
Private landlords based in Lincolnshire are being encouraged to improve housing standards for tenants as part of a new initiative.
A programme of engagement developed by North Kesteven District Council will see both the public and partners within the housing sector give their views on the new strategy, the Sleaford Target reports.
Officials behind the plans have said that they intend to promote access to houses within the private sector and ensure that all landlords tending to these properties are keeping them up to code for potential tenants.
Councillor Stewart Ogden, executive board member with responsibility for housing told the source: “This is why we help landlords to understand their legal responsibilities and ensure their homes meet minimum standards. If standards fall below what is expected and are not resolved amicably then we will use our powers to intervene.”
With winter fast-approaching, the National Landlord Association is advising people leasing property to ensure that their houses are sufficiently prepared for the season.
