Google to include Buy-to-let properties

June 23rd, 2010

Google Maps will now advertise properties for the convenience of landlords and buyers.

People who are looking for a house have different options to look for a property:  It can be in the newspaper, online or in an estate agents window, but now thanks to Google Maps they will be able to surround and view the house and the neighboor. Now house hunters will have more tools at their disposition thanks to Google Maps.

On a recent report from Telegraph, hundreds and thousands of British homes for sale are now listed on Google Maps, reaching a higher audience of potential buyers. Andrew Foster, Product Manager at Google, said that the addition of property listing to the map is for “putting everything together for tenants and buyers in one place”.

But how does it work? The concept is very easy; users will be able to look for a property by the name of the city or type of the property. The new service will provide information about properties’ specifics such as price and numbers of bedrooms and then a small circle of read colour will indicate property for sale or rent. The other good news is that neither the estate agents nor direct sellers or buyers will not have to pay any fee for listing their properties since Google Maps would use ads to generate money.

Andrew Foster, product manager at Google said: “Given the importance of location to a home search, we’ve made it easy for home buyers and renters to see listings that match their criteria on Google Maps even as they pan and zoom the map to different areas.”
