Avoid burst pipes this winter

With the especially cold winters over the last couple of years home owners are being urged now to take preventative measures to avoid burst pipes this coming winter.

In recent years Christmas and New Year has seen insurers receiving up to 50% more claims than expected for the time of year as a result of the freezing weather. More of these claims are for damage caused by escape of water than for fire or theft. Read more…

Olympics will boost East London house prices

Property prices in the east London area are set to increase faster than anywhere else in the capital in the run up to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Research for Lloyds TSB found that property prices in 14 postal districts of east London have increased by an average of 26% since it was announced in 2005 that London would hold the 2012 Olympics. Read more…

Buying is better than renting in Britain

It is cheaper to buy a property as opposed to renting one in 74% of the country, according to Zoopla.co.uk.

Research by Zoopla.co.uk looked at 50 locations throughout Britain and found that average monthly mortgage repayments we on average 8% lower than rental payments on a comparable property in three-quarters of the locations. Read more…

New tenants` guide for students
