Tenants are Further Warned over Bogus Landlord Scams

Tenants looking for rental accommodation in Oxfordshire are warned about the money transfer scams conducted by bogus landlords who advertised their “property” on the free internet websites.

Oxfordshire Trading Standards warned the public about fake advertisement of rented properties listed on the free internet websites. Evidence from victims described that once the tenants contacted the bogus landlord, a wire transfer and transaction codes were requested as a proof of sufficient funds. Read more…

Expected Increase in Landlords Facing Rent Arrears

The majority of residential landlords in the UK face the challenge of dealing with their tenants falling into rental arrears, according to the statistics from Landlord Assist.

Reports showed that there will be 150,000 tenants having to face legal actions due to rental arrears by the end of the year. As predicted, the number of evictions and tenants with rental arrears will remain at an augmented level and rising even further in 2010. Read more…

Expected Rent Reduction for Housing Association Tenants

The Government will announce that 5 million housing association tenants will get their first ever rent reduction starting from next year.

The Housing Minister will announce the plan of rent reduction on housing associations of just under 1% due to the consequences of deflation starting from next April - which will affect about 5 million housing association tenants. Read more…

A survey has revealed the trend of first time buyers returning to the market - enjoying the benefit from the fall of housing prices and the lower interest rates.
